Ingredient Notes

labelled ground turkey meatball ingredients.
  • Ground Turkey: I recommend not choosing the leanest ground turkey option for this recipe because a bit of fat helps create more tender, flavorful meatballs.
  • Parmesan Cheese: Finely grated parmesan is the best way to adds a salty touch and help bind the meatballs together.

Variations

  • Ground chicken makes a good substitute for ground turkey.
  • Add seasonings to match the flavor you are looking for! Red pepper flakes add a spicy flavor. A bit of onion powder creates an even more savory flavor.
  • Freshly chopped parsley, oregano, and/or basil can be used to add a fresh, herbal touch.

How to Make Ground Turkey Meatballs

  1. Combine the ground turkey with the egg, seasonings, almond flour, and Parmesan.
  2. Gently mix just until everything is evenly combined.
  3. Portion and roll the mixture into meatballs.
  4. Arrange on a baking sheet and bake (full recipe below).

Turkey Meatball Tips

  • Avoid over-working the turkey mixture! Gently combine the ingredients just until incorporated to keep the meatballs tender and juicy.
  • If the mixture begins to stick, lightly wet or oil your hands for easier rolling.
  • Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized meatballs that cook at the same rate.
  • Be sure to leave a little room between the meatballs on the baking sheet so hot air can circulate and create delicious golden edges.
  • Use an instant-read thermometer to check the center of the meatball. Ground turkey should reach 165°F.

Save Some for Later

  • Cool leftovers completely before storing in an airtight container, or freezer safe zipper bags.
  • Refrigerate for up to 4 days, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw meatballs overnight in the refrigerator.
  • To reheat in an oven, place meatballs in a baking dish, add a splash of broth or water, cover loosely with foil, and heat at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes, or until heated through.
  • You can also heat small portions at short intervals in the microwave, using a stovetop skillet, or even an air fryer if a firmer texture is preferred.
