Crunchy Components

  • Kale: Look for any fresh, unwilted kale variety to use in this recipe.
  • Seasonings: Besides salt and pepper, make kale chips match the menu (or mood)! Try a DIY southwest, Italian, or garlic and herb.

Kale Twists

  • Make dessert-ish kale chips by sprinkling them with a mix of cinnamon and Stevia (or your fave dry sugar substitute)
  • Try using a Ranch dressing mix, garlic salt, or some Parmesan cheese.

How To Make Air Fryer Kale Chips

  1. Wash and dry kale (full recipe below). Tear or cut into palm-sized pieces.
  2. Lay pieces in a single layer, spray with oil, and season as desired.
  3. Air fry until the edges of the kale are crisp and golden brown on the edges.

The Crunchy Kale Code

  • This recipe works best when the kale pieces are dry, so the oil and seasonings adhere better. A salad spinner works best, but you can also pat them dry with clean paper towels.
  • Be sure to tear kale leaves about palm-sized, since they’ll shrink as they cook. This also applies to seasonings – use less than you might want since they’ll shrink.

Keepin’ It Crisp – Storing Kale Chips

Keep these crispy kale chips in a zippered bag at room temperature with a slice of bread to absorb any moisture caused by temperature changes. Use the air fryer to make kale chips crispy again, and they’ll be good as new.
