3 Ingredient Recipe

Smokies – Mini smokies are pre-cooked and ready to serve, but caramelizing them in brown sugar gives them a sweet/salty flavor that can’t be beat! Look for other varieties made with chicken or turkey.

Bacon – Keep it keto and look for uncured bacon with no added sugar and less than 1g of carbs per serving. Genoa salami, ham, or prosciutto works, but decrease the baking time so they don’t dry out in the oven.

Sweetener – Brown sugar Swerve, Truvia, and Monkfruit are all acceptable in this recipe. White sugar substitute will work, but won’t caramelize as well. Keto-friendly honey and maple syrup are also excellent options! Blend in a little cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for a spicy kick!

Variations – Wrap smokies with a little slice of American cheese, or a strip of jalapeno or bell pepper for more fun twists on this popular favorite!

How to Make Little Smokies Wrapped in Bacon

  1. Cut bacon strips into thirds and wrap around each smokie.
  2. Roll smokies in brown sugar and secure them with a toothpick.
  3. Bake until the bacon is crispy, flipping halfway through (as per the recipe below).

Serving Suggestions

Cook bacon wrapped smokies and serve them from a Crockpot with juicy meatballs, and some chicken wings. Add a side of low-carb coleslaw and a bowlful of keto crackers with a tangy spinach dip, and it’s game on!

Leftover Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies

  • Wrap and roll little smokies and store them in the refrigerator before baking. Or freeze them in a single layer, and transfer to zippered freezer bags for up to 2 months.
  • Add an extra 5-7 minutes if baking in the oven from frozen. Keep leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Reheat under the broiler until the brown sugar is caramelized again.

Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies

This easy appetizer recipe makes the best crispy bacon wrapped little smokies ever!

Ingredients  

  • 1 package bacon
  • 1 package mini smokies (30 mini smokies)
  • cup brown sugar substitute such as Swerve

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking pan with foil.
  • Cut bacon into thirds. Wrap 1 piece of bacon around each mini smokie. Roll in brown sugar substitute and secure with a toothpick. Place on prepared pan.
  • Bake for 10 minutes. Flip smokies and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the bacon is crispy.

Notes

  • Assemble and bake ahead, then keep warm in a Crockpot for guests to help themselves.
