Ingredients and Substitutions

ALMOND FLOUR: Almond flour is a great substitute for wheat flour. It is also ideal for anyone on a keto diet because it is low on the glycemic index and rich in mono-saturated fat.

THE SWEETENER: Two sweeteners are called for in this recipe; Stevia and Swerve. Both can be found in the baking section of the local supermarket. Swerve is a natural sweetener made from certain fruits and vegetables and be used at the same ratio as sugar.

  1. Can you use lactaid milk as I am lactose intolerant and do you need the almond butter- I am diabetic- would’ve to make this to satisfy my sweet tooth.

    1. Hi Joann, we have only made this recipe as listed so I can’t say for sure. Lactaid milk should work fine in this recipe but we have never attempted it without almond butter. Maybe another reader has some insight into that.

  2. Is the carb count for one serving or both? I am assuming both, but you know what they say about that! So thought I would asked.
