Easy Ingredients and Variations
Steak: Striploin (AKA Porterhouse) steaks come from the cow’s short loin, making it tender. Avoid steaks with a white line running through them as this is not fat, but a tough vein.
Seasonings: Oil, butter, and steak seasonings enhance the flavor of a grilled striploin and are all you need.
Variations
Match the flavor to the menu and season strip loins with garlic and herb, a savory Italian blend, rosemary, onion powder, fresh thyme leaves, or your favorite collection of spices if desired. Vegetable oil can be used in place of olive oil.

Simple Steak Tips
- Allow steaks come to room temperature before grilling for even cooking time and a more consistent result.
- Be sure to score any fat that may be on the outer edge. This will prevent the steak from curling up as it cooks.
- Preheat the grill to high to ensure a crispy sear on the outside of the steak.
- Generously coat the steaks with a rub of seasoning and salt for that delicious flavor.
- Once your steak is cooked to your desired temperature, let it rest for about 5 minutes to redistribute the juices back into the meat.
- Feel free to take the steaks off the grill a few degrees below your desired level of doneness because the temperature will rise slightly while they rest.
