Ingredients and Variations

Dairy – Fat keeps you fuller longer and delivers the best flavors, so choose full-fat versions of sour cream, yogurt, and mayo. Mix and match the ingredients, but keep the same measurements. Cream cheese can be mixed in for an extra creamy dip.

Soup Mix – This copycat recipe is similar to Knorr’s seasoning packet for vegetable dip, so use this recipe here, or feel free to use the original Knorr’s or a store-bought brand.

Water Chestnuts – Water chestnuts stay extra crunchy in spinach dip but they are optional since they are not considered low carb. Swap low carb sliced celery for water chestnuts, and deliver an equal amount of crunch!

Variations – Spinach and artichokes are a perfect pair! Bulk up this recipe and use some canned artichoke hearts. Be sure to drain them and pat them dry before chopping finely. Chopped jalapenos, diced red peppers, and even bacon bits will add a new twist to spinach dip! Blue cheese crumbles and parmesan cheese will also add robust flavor to spinach dip.

For Added Crunch!

  • Other crunchy options include chopped and toasted walnuts, pistachios, or pine nuts. Nut-free options are sunflower or hemp seeds.
  • If using nuts or seeds, try toasting them in a hot and dry saute pan for a few seconds to make them extra crunchy and intensify their flavor!

How to Make Spinach Dip

  1. Thoroughly squeeze out the liquid from the thawed spinach.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and blend thoroughly.
  3. Chill at least 2 hours before serving.
  4. If serving warm, heat spinach dip in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. Avoid overcooking.

Pro Tip:

A good way to get all the liquid out of thawed spinach is to place it in the center of a clean kitchen towel, bring up the ends, roll them together, and squeeze.

Low-Carb Spinach Dip Ideas

There are so many ways to serve spinach dip! Perfect with a platter of keto-friendly veggies like celery sticks, chunks of bell peppers, cucumber, zucchini rounds, or kale chips. Why not use spinach dip as a spread instead of condiments in low-carb wraps, or mix it into twice-baked zucchini or stuffed mushrooms. Also delicious swirled into some into deviled eggs or a zucchini frittata.

Best Ways to Store Spinach Dip

Keep leftover spinach dip in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Stir thoroughly before serving again.
